Hurricane Season: Survive the Storm AND the Clean-up After; Tell a friend
Most people living in areas that get extreme weather hear warnings about how to PREPARE for a hurricane, tornado or flood. But, can people in your community name four common hazards to avoid AFTER surviving a severe storm? They are carbon monoxide poisoning, electrocution, house fire, and gas explosion.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) wants people in your community to stay alive during and after your area is hit. We want people to be especially careful during a loss of electrical power after storms have passed.
This hurricane season, CPSC also challenges you to go a step further. Encourage families in your community to share safety information with at least two neighbors and then ask their friends to do the same.
Give families in your community the poster Stay Alive to help them guard against hazards after the storm - http://1.usa.gov/1hKdnfh.
Share CPSC's carbon monoxide safety alerts and safety guides for more CO and generator safety information - http://1.usa.gov/1jPiCt7.
Thanks for spreading the word and making your community safer.
Carl
