Biggest Day in History for U.S. Solar Energy CommunityDear Solar Community, Today is an historic day for all of us here at SunShot, and indeed everyone in the solar energy community. President Barack Obama will soon give a speech in Mountain View, CA announcing impressive commitments from American businesses and the federal government to deploy more solar energy throughout the nation. The president will also discuss several equally-important commitments to improve energy efficiency across the U.S. Here are the highlights of President Obama’s solar announcements: • Support for the solar workforce. The SunShot Initiative will build on our Solar Instructor Training Network, an initiative intended to support community college programs that train people to enter the solar industry. The program aims to help 50,000 people enter the solar workforce by 2020. Tune in to the President’s speech on WhiteHouse.gov/live at 12:55pm ET today, Friday, May 8 and check out this video revealing the White House solar array, including a cameo by SunShot Initiative Director Minh Le. Thank you for all that you do to support our work to make clean solar energy affordable for more American families and businesses. Today is an important validation of all that we do. Let’s all take a moment to reflect and celebrate how far we have come. - The SunShot Team P.S. Today is your last chance to register online for the SunShot Summit. Join us to discuss these new solar goals and learn how you can get involved! |
