Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the SunShot Team, I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for participating in the SunShot Grand Challenge Summit and Peer Review. Whether you attended as a speaker, a SunShot awardee, a reviewer, or a workshop participant—individuals from across the entire solar community helped to make this event a huge success.

This Summit focused on assessing the progress on the grand challenge to make solar electricity cost competitive by the year 2020 and exchanging ideas on how to reach the goal. I recently reported that we are now 60% of our way to our 2020 objectives, just 3 years into a decade long initiative, and we are very excited to see what progress will be made in the next few years.

While the solar community has made rapid strides towards realizing the SunShot goals, many significant challenges remain. The Energy Department is proud to lead a nationwide movement to re-establish American technological and market leadership in solar energy, improve the Nation's energy security, reduce environmental impacts of electricity generation, strengthen U.S. economic competitiveness and catalyze domestic economic growth.

I encourage you to visit the SunShot Summit website to access numerous Summit materials, including multimedia content. If you have any feedback about the Summit, please send it to sunshotsummit@ee.doe.gov so we may improve the Summit for the next event in 2016.

Again, we thank you for joining us in Anaheim and we hope to work with you again in the future.

Sincerely,

Minh Le

Director, SunShot Initiative
