EPA Announces New ENERGY STAR Tool for Homeowners For 40 Years, the Safe Drinking Water Act Has Protected America's Water at the Source and the Tap Applications for Youth Award Due December 31 EPA Accepting Applications for P3 Grant Program Through December 16 EPA Announces New ENERGY STAR Tool for Homeowners EPA has launched the ENERGY STAR Home Advisor, an online tool designed to help Americans save money and energy by improving the energy efficiency of their homes through recommended, customized and prioritized home-improvement projects.  The updated Home Advisor guides the homeowner through a do-it-yourself energy assessment to create an ENERGY STAR home profile. The new tool also helps prioritize money-saving projects like insulating the attic and replacing HVAC filters. These improvements reduce heating and cooling costs and help keep your home free from allergens. The Act was passed to protect your family's health by ensuring that the nation's public drinking water is safe. EPA is committed to working with states, tribes, water sector partners and other stakeholders to meet the challenges ahead in continuing to protect drinking water supplies. The award promotes awareness of the nation's natural resources and encourages positive community involvement. Applications are due December 31, 2014. P3 offers quality hands-on experience that brings classroom learning to life. Last year, a winning team from SUNY Stony Brook designed and built Poseidon, an ocean energy harvester that converts wave motion into electrical energy. For the first phase of the competition, college teams are awarded a $15,000 grant to develop their idea. Teams then compete in the National Sustainable Design Expo in Washington, DC for the P3 Award and a $90,000 grant to turn their design into a real world application.
