At 12:30 p.m. she will deliver remarks at Green 2.0 and New America Media’s public briefing, “Breaking the Green Ceiling”, followed by a speech at 1p.m. at the Safe Drinking Water Act 40th Anniversary Forum. Green 2.0 Diversity Forum: “Breaking the Green Ceiling” The Administrator’s remarks at the Green 2.0 and New America Media forum will focus on the steps EPA is taking to recruit, develop and retain a diverse and high-performing workforce. EPA’s Office of Civil Rights has made huge progress in promoting access to equal employment opportunities and is committed to making a visible difference in communities across the country. Safe Drinking Water Act 40th Anniversary Forum At 1 PM the Administrator will mark the 40th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act at an experts’ forum hosted by the American Water Works Association. She will deliver remarks on the progress and challenges EPA has faced in working to make the United States a world leader in providing safe drinking water. As a result of EPA’s work, 93 percent of the population receives public drinking water that meets all health-based standards. But there are challenges to address, including the need for infrastructure improvements and the impacts of climate change such as sea level rise, stronger storms, and severe droughts.
