Upcoming Events: Webinar: Preliminary Site Selection & Comparison for Utility-Scale PV Workshop: The Future of Academic and Industrial Solar Cell Research Webinar: Distributed PV Interconnection Screening Procedures and Online Tools Webinar: Solar Permitting & Inspection Workshop: Solar Powering Your Community Webinar: Highlights of SunShot Projects: Interconnection as Part of a Strategic Resource Planning Process | SunShot Catalyst voting extended again! The Energy Department’s SunShot Catalyst is an open innovation program that helps launch tomorrow’s solar startups. Through a series of prize challenges, SunShot Catalyst makes it faster and easier for American innovators to launch cutting-edge solar companies, while tackling time-sensitive market challenges. Until August 25, anyone can participate by voting online on today’s solar challenges. Your vote matters in making it easier, faster, and cheaper to go solar in the U.S. Vote here. SunShot PV Degradation Workshop Registration OpenOn Sept. 9 in Golden, Colorado, the SunShot Initiative will host a workshop in an effort to develop a prioritized list of important degradation or failure modes for commercial PV technologies. The workshop also serves to gather community feedback on gaps in test methods and test standards that need to be addressed, degradation modes which lack fundamental mechanistic understanding, and lessons learned from the Physics of Reliability: Evaluating Design Insights for Component Technologies in Solar (PREDICTS) funding program. To register, email Taylarr.Lopez@hq.doe.gov. Awardee Spotlight: EnergySageSunShot Incubator awardee EnergySage transforms the complex solar PV shopping process into a simple, online comparison-shopping experience. Its unique, innovative platform provides unprecedented levels of choice, transparency, and information at no cost to consumers, who can compare quotes from multiple pre-screened installers in an apples-to-apples matrix format across all financing options. EnergySage slashes time and effort for both consumers and installers, significantly reducing customer acquisition costs, boosting consumer confidence, and accelerating mass market solar adoption. Learn more about EnergySage in this short video. DIY Solar Market Analysis Webinars AvailableWith support from the SunShot Initiative, NREL’s Solar Technical Assistance Team (STAT) presents multiple webinars each year that are targeted to state and local policymakers. STAT just completed its final webinar in the Do-It-Yourself Solar Market Analysis summer webinar series last week. These webinars offer guided tours of solar tools, such as PVWatts, Solar JEDI, and SAM, that aid in analyzing market conditions for PV. Visit the STAT website for recordings, slides, transcripts and more. National Utility Rate Database Now AvailableFor the first time, electricity rates from nearly 3,500 electric utilities across the country are now available in a free online database that allows consumers, solar installers, and rate analysts to view or export one or many rates. In conjunction with NREL, Illinois State University created the U.S. Utility Rate Database, a comprehensive, reliable source for electric rate information that represents the culmination of a three-year project funded by SunShot. Find the database here and read the press release. |
