Winter Heating Safety
With many areas in the U.S. bracing for at least one more round of frigid weather, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) urges you to keep your community aware of the threats that
winter can bring.
Home heating equipment is among the top causes of fires and carbon monoxide (CO) poisonings during the winter. CO poisonings associated with portable generators also tend to be higher as people use them as a remedy for lost power needed to light and heat homes.
Remind families in your neighborhood to use care with heating products and generators this season.
Download and share information about space heaters - http://1.usa.gov/1c3N3Hy and portable generators - http://1.usa.gov/1BlaVGG.
Make sure each home has the safety guide “Get to Know Carbon Monoxide Alarms” - http://1.usa.gov/1y93rl7.
As always, thanks for helping us spread the word about product safety in your community.
Carl
